"I make books that resemble illuminated manuscripts and specifically Books of Hours; beautifully painted picture books. I am fascinated with Books of Hours. I like the idea of a performing a specific activity at a specific hour. A school day runs on a schedule. Books of Hours are chapter books as well. I particularly like the Office of the Dead because struggling to read means struggling in every aspect of ones life. For some, illiteracy is truly a death knell.
